A Makers Market, a Gothic Blood Moon Market, and a Farmers' Market That'll Bankrupt You in Cheese!

Morning! It's a three-market bank holiday, which is dangerous news for anyone with a wallet and a weakness for candles. The Design 44 Makers Market sets up outside Derbion on Saturday with twelve brilliant independent makers, the Dark Arts Blood Moon Market brings fifty gothic traders and some worryingly accurate tarot to the Wardwick all weekend.

And the Farmers' Market rolls back into the Market Hall with enough local produce to make your fridge feel deeply inadequate.

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND?

🛍️ - Design 44 Makers Market - Independent Traders, Handcrafted Gifts, and a Very Easy Way to Spend a Saturday!

📅 - Sat 29th Aug
⏰ - 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
🎟️ - Free entry

Twelve local businesses are setting up outside Design 44 with handmade jewellery, homeware, artwork, candles, plants and enough nice-looking things to make your bank account nervous. This month includes Bloom and Belle, The Plant Pod, Moreish Mallows and Izzoo Illustrations, with the people behind the businesses there to chat about what they make.

Free entry and right outside Derbion, so you can tell yourself you're only there for a coffee before walking away with a candle, a plant and something you definitely didn't need but “looked too nice to leave behind.”

No.10 Coffee House is officially back open! The coffee and matcha are flowing again, the sweet treats and snacks are out, and the outdoor seating is ready for whatever's left of the summer.

It's still the coffee house and hair salon in one, so you can grab a drink, stay awhile, and get your hair done all in the same visit. Back Thursday to Saturday, and worth the trip in on its own.

ACTIVITY ALLEY

🌑 - The Dark Arts Blood Moon Market - Two Days of Gothic Makers, Tarot, and Treasures You Won't Find in a Garden Centre!
📍- The Wardwick, 7-11 Wardwick
📅 - Sat 29th Aug to Sun 30th Aug
⏰ - 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
🎟️ - Free entry
📷 - @the_dark_arts_market

Fifty-plus gothic and alternative makers are descending on the Wardwick for the weekend, which is easily the most exciting thing to happen to a library since someone last returned a book on time. There's handmade jewellery, dark art, curious little oddities, and tarot readers ready to tell you things you half wanted to know, all run by a genuinely lovely bunch who've clearly poured their heart into their stalls.

Free to get in, fully accessible, and a warm welcome whether you own eleven black candles already or you're just nosy. You'll wander in for a browse and leave clutching a print, an ornament, and a reading that was worryingly accurate about your love life!

FRESH EXPERIENCES

🥕 - Derby Farmers' Market - Two Days of Local Producers, Seasonal Flavours, and Ingredients That'll Outclass Your Cooking!
📍 - Derby Market Hall
📅 - Sat 29th Aug 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
📅 - Sun 30th Aug 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
🎟️ - Free entry

The Farmers' Market rolls into the Market Hall for the weekend, with local growers, producers and independent food traders bringing the best of the region and quietly making your weekly shop look tragic by comparison. Fresh produce, artisan bread, seasonal veg and treats you'll tell yourself are for a recipe, right up until you eat them in the car park.

You'll arrive with a vague plan to "grab a few bits" and leave with a chutney you'll never open, a loaf the size of a small child, and a newfound loyalty to a cheese man whose name you didn't catch. Worth every penny and every dropped good intention.
