Carsington Waterside hires bikes, e-bikes and tag-a-longs for the eight mile traffic free loop round the reservoir, plus a dog trailer, so for once the dog gets round without doing any of the work.

On the water there are tandem kayaks, canoes and a Mega SUP for up to six people, which is the only way to get the whole family paddling in the same direction.

We flagged this one on Monday, but with doors opening tomorrow it deserves a second shout. Over 100 traders fill the County Ground, from Miles-Moore Ceramics, who make for Michelin star chefs, to the Oriental Rug Shop, trading since 1880.

The Leafy Snug has rare houseplants, and outside the street food runs from Greek gyros to hog roast and waffles. Leave room in the boot, because the houseplant you came for might have to share it with a rug!

La Burrata has moved on to its autumn menu, which means slow cooked oxtail and chive risotto with roasted bone marrow, and brown butter gnocchi with squash puree and crispy sage.

Start with the crab arancini, and if there are two of you with a serious appetite, the 32oz Florentine T-bone is there for sharing, although nobody in history has shared one evenly.

The canal trust runs cruises on a fully electric boat, heading north up the river to Darley Abbey and back, with activities and challenges for the kids on the way.

Each trip takes 12 passengers and online sales stop at 7pm the night before, so book early. That's still more legroom than the bus!

Tomb Raider turns 30 this year, and Lara Croft was created right here by Core Design. The museum is turning the Grade I listed Pickford's House into Croft Manor and inviting fans in costume to explore and take photos.

Flash photography isn't allowed and changing space is minimal, so turn up already in the shorts and the plait!
