Department Store & Co is throwing open its doors tonight for a brand new letterpress exhibition from London artist Michelle Dwyer, better known as Nice & Graphic. Every wall is covered in her big, bold, hand-printed messages of hope and love, which makes a nice change from the messages on your phone.
There are free drinks from Bluntrock Brewery, a live DJ, and limited edition tote bags you can screen print yourself while stocks last. Free beer and a bag you made yourself. Somebody in your family will want one, so pace yourself.
You also get a tour of the new space, all three floors of it. Entry is free, but you do need to book, so grab a ticket before you head out, rather than telling the door staff you're on the list in spirit!

We flagged this one on Monday, but now the weekend's actually here it deserves a second shout. Melbourne Festival turns 21 this year, with 175 regional artists across 65 venues, showing everything from paintings and photography to pottery, sculpture and jewellery.
Quite a few venues are private homes and historic buildings, so it's your chance to have a nose around somewhere you wouldn't normally get past the front door. There's also live music, a Food Fayre on Castle Street and a family area with music, poetry and singing!

Compamigos takes its name from the Spanish phrase "Compartir con Amigos", meaning "to share with friends", which is brave, because sharing food is where most friendships get tested. The menu has chorizo cooked in red wine, garlic and rosemary patatas bravas and garlic king prawns, so there's plenty to fight over. It's also Fizz Friday tonight, so book a table for four or more from 5pm and the Prosecco is on them.

BMW Car Club GB is rolling into Great Northern Classics for a morning of breakfast and beemers, with everything from cherished classics and retro favourites to M cars and modern performance models. It's free, the café is serving hot food and drinks all morning and there's free parking, so turn up in whatever you drive and nobody will say a word about the hatchback.

Hotel Chocolat's guided tastings are back after a year away, which is about as long as most of us manage to stay off chocolate after New Year. The team walk you through their autumn range, from Pumpkin Pie to Spicy Maple, then finish you off with a hot chocolate sample.
The whole point is to find your "Chocolate Love Match". You might be Exuberantly Fruity, a Milk Devotee or a Serious Dark Fix, which sounds like a dating app but tastes a lot better.
