Ten Fitness Zones Designed to Break You, Motown by Candlelight, and Peter Pan Written Across the Night Sky!

Morning! DEKA takes over Derby Arena for three days from tonight, with athletes from across Europe working through ten zones of rowing, sled pushes and burpees, and a Ruck division for anyone who thought the normal course sounded a bit soft.

Saturday brings Motown by Candlelight to the cathedral with a full live band and hundreds of drones light up the County Ground telling the whole Peter Pan story across the night sky!

DEKA is back at the Arena for a second year with athletes from across Europe coming to find out what they're made of. Ten zones of rowing, ski erg, sled pushes, farmer's carries, box jumps and wall balls, with a 500m run wedged between every single one, and twenty burpees at the end that feel less like a finish line and more like a final insult.

Friday night opens with the UK's first arena DEKA MILE, the last chance to qualify for the World Championship, and there's a Ruck division where you carry a weighted rucksack round the lot, because someone looked at the standard course and decided it was going a bit easy on people.

Bronagh from the Local Scoop team visited The Boot in Melbourne last week and came away very impressed! There's a lovely bar downstairs if you fancy a drink first, while upstairs has that warm, sociable feel that makes it a good shout for a date night.

The food was excellent, with the fried chicken coming out as the clear favourite. Crispy, full of flavour and still worth talking about several days later! Then there was the sticky toffee. Date purée, honeycomb and salted caramel, and quite possibly the reason we're still talking about this visit.

There’s also a five-course Tasting Series with wine pairings on 22nd October, which sounds like a very good excuse to let someone else do the cooking for the evening!

Motown by Candlelight is back at the cathedral with a full live band and a cast of singers working through The Supremes, The Temptations, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and The Commodores.

Two ticket bands have already gone, which is the surest sign there is that this one's worth booking now rather than thinking about it. There's a licensed bar open throughout, and dancing is actively encouraged downstairs in the nave.

We mentioned this earlier in the week and tickets are shifting quickly, so this is your nudge. Hundreds of synchronised drones light up the sky over the County Ground on Saturday, painting the whole Peter Pan story across the stars with music and narration.

Gates open at five with live tribute acts, fairground rides, face painting and street food to fill the wait, and £1 from every ticket goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity!
