Things to do this week: Antiques Fair, Country By Candlelight, Plus a Dog Show!

Morning! The school holidays have one more week in them and there's plenty to fill it with. The antiques and vintage fair is at the Derby Conference Centre this weekend, two days of stalls, free parking, and the kind of browsing that always ends up costing more than you planned.

Friday night is Country By Candlelight at Derby Cathedral, live band, world-class vocalists, Dolly, Shania, Kenny Rogers and more, all by candlelight in a cathedral with a licensed bar.

Also this week, TaylorMania at Derby Arena on Friday, Russell Watson and The Illegal Eagles both at the weekend, plus the Derby Dog Show on Saturday. A lot on.

Two days of antiques and vintage at the Derby Conference Centre, exhibitors from all over the country, all indoors, free parking. The sort of event where you go in for a browse and come out carrying something wrapped in newspaper that you can't fully explain.

Hundreds of stalls covering everything from antique homeware to vintage clothing and everything in between. Go with a rough idea of what you're looking for. It won't matter.

The Beetroot Tree sits out at Mercia Marina and does the kind of menu where you go in knowing what you want and change your mind twice before you order. Full breakfasts, brunch, bagels, cobs, and a cake counter that does a lot of damage!

The Big Beetroot Breakfast is three sausages, three bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, beans and two eggs at £15.50, which is either a treat or a Tuesday depending on how you look at it. Bagels run from £9, the BBQ pulled pork one comes highly recommended. Dog friendly too, so no excuse to leave anyone behind.

Derby Market Hall is hosting a full dog show, agility course, photo ops and a pop-up market, all in one day. If your dog has ever looked at you like they deserve more recognition, this is their moment.

Classes run from noon covering everything from Precious Puppy to Best Fancy Dress, with the prestigious Best in Show crowning at 3 PM. Registration from 10 AM on the day, £2 per class. Worth going even if you don't have a dog. Someone's entering a sausage dog in Best Sausage Catcher and you'll want to witness that.

Either way, it's a full live band, world-class vocalists, and hits from Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers and more.
