Morning Derby! The week ahead is full of reasons to get out and about. Bustler is rolling into Elvaston Castle with a street food, cocktails, DJs and more stalls than your willpower can handle. Sunday brings the annual Duck Race, where a £1 duck could win you £30 all in aid of a good cause. Runners can lace up for the Derby Running Festival, with 5k, 10k and half marathon options around the castle grounds, plus a medal that’ll make you look speedy even if your legs disagree. And looking ahead, Local Welcome hosts their next community meal on Sunday 7th September, where you’ll cook, share and eat together with neighbours old and new. Whether it’s food, fun, running or racing ducks, there’s no shortage of ways to spend your week.

Join Local Welcome for their next monthly community meal in Derby on Sunday 7th September. You’ll be cooking a healthy vegetarian dish from scratch with others in your local community. Whether you’ve always lived here or you’re new to the area, you’ll be welcomed at the table.

The meals are a chance to turn your values into action, make friends, and learn recipes that are easy and tasty. All dishes are vegetarian, can be adapted for dietary needs, and include full allergen information.

You don’t need to bring anything. Just book your place and come along. You might start cooking with strangers, but you’ll end up eating with friends.

Grab a duck, cross your fingers, and cheer as hundreds of rubber ducks bob and race their way down the stream at Elvaston Castle. First prize is £30, second takes £20, third gets £10, and last place still waddles home with a duck of their own.

Ducks are just £1, with sales on the day or in advance at Borrowash Co-op. Can’t stay for the race? No problem, your name and number will be taken so you don’t miss out on a win.

All proceeds support children and young people in Ockbrook and Borrowash, so it’s a race worth getting behind.
