Yassou Greek Kitchen in Little Eaton does Greek food the way it should be done. Halloumi comes out bronzed and squeaking, gyros arrive with juicy meat, warm flatbread and sauces that don't wait for anyone, and the honey roasted loukanika is the plate that quietly disappears while everyone pretends they only had one piece.

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options throughout, so nobody ends up doing the awkward I'll just have chips routine. Book ahead, it fills up.

Punks Against Cancer is back at The Hairy Dog for three days, twenty-seven bands across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. SKIDS, Cyanide Pills, Theatre of Hate, Popes of Chillitown and plenty more, two bars, a games room, outdoor garden and a food shack.

Day tickets from £25 or the full weekend for £75. The kind of event where you go for one day and end up staying for three. Book soon, early bird tickets are already gone.

Pottery at the Pub are setting up at The Broadway in Darley Abbey for a gonk-making evening, two hours, all tools and tuition included, no experience required. Which is lucky, because nobody has ever walked in knowing how to make a gonk.

Thirty quid, your finished gonk gets fired back at the studio and collected from The Broadway in a few weeks. Only ten tickets left, so it's one of those where you either book now or spend the evening explaining to yourself why you didn't.
