Things To Do This Weekend: A Country Day Party, Saturday Pottery Classes, Plus a Gut-Brain Wellbeing Workshop!

Morning! Saturday has a Country Day Party at The Church with five hours of line dancing, cowboy hats, and singalong hits from Luke Combs to Dolly Parton, all done by teatime. There's also the Midlands Elvis Festival at Derby Leisure and Events, and MooFest carrying on at Bluebells for anyone with kids to tire out.

Saturday pottery classes are running at Artcore, and there's a gut-brain wellbeing workshop in Darley Abbey if you fancy something calmer. Sunday finishes with Star Wars: A New Hope under the stars at Calke Abbey, which is a very good way to round off the weekend.

Five hours of nonstop modern country hits and singalong favourites from Luke Combs, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Zach Bryan and about thirty others, all before your tea's gone cold. Boot scootin' encouraged, line dancing basically mandatory, and a cowboy hat that seemed like a joke at 3pm becoming a full personality by 5.

Doors at 3pm, done by 8pm, so you get the whole thing and still make it home at a reasonable hour. Groups of ten or more get a discount, and last entry is 5pm, so don't leave it hanging like a slow country ballad.

The Greenery in Darley Abbey is part coffee stop, part evening bar, and all-round easy place to spend your time. Mornings are about strong flat whites and cake that disappears faster than you’d like.

Kathryn Borg runs pottery workshops at Artcore every Saturday afternoon, and there's something quietly satisfying about spending two hours elbow-deep in clay while the rest of the week waits outside. You'll learn actual pot building skills and leave with the start of your own ceramic collection, whether that ends up being a beautiful vase or a bowl only a parent could love.

All materials, tuition and glazing are included, so all you need to bring is yourself and a willingness to make something slightly wonky the first time. Spaces are limited, so worth booking ahead.
