Things To Do This Weekend: A Valentine’s Funfair, A Country Day Party, Plus Plans For Half Term!

Morning! Half term’s on the horizon, so this weekend is the warm up lap before Monday hits. The Valentine’s Funfair lands in the Marketplace for rides and a steady supply of sweet bribes, then Saturday brings the Country Day Party at The Church and the Valentine’s Car Meet at Great British Car Journey.

For next week, Matlock Farm Park runs right through half term, and Heights of Abraham is on as well for an easy “get them out the house” day.

An award winning gastropub in the Derbyshire countryside with seasonal modern British plates and a wine list that does half the flirting for you. Their Valentine’s menu is on this weekend, so you can book a table, turn your phones face down, and let someone else handle the romance and the washing up.

Also steak night is on 25th Feb. Pick your cut, pick your doneness, then let the grill do the talking while you insist it’s “no big deal” with a steak the size of your face.

Valentine’s plans that aren’t a set menu and forced eye contact. Turn up for the car meet, grab a cuppa and a sarnie at the Filling Station cafe, then wander round cars that bring back big “my mum had one of those” memories. Driving days are also running Sat 14th and Sun 15th Feb, so you can take it up a level and actually get behind the wheel.
