Assemble Festival is back too, ideal if you fancy crafting something mildly impressive while pretending it’s for the kids. Derbion has a new 55,000 sq ft playground, and it’s all about padel. Social Sports Society has ten courts, a gym, boules, shuffleboard, table tennis, co-working spaces, a pro shop and a bar that takes post-match drinks very seriously. Sessions run for every level, from total beginners to players who claim they’re “basically pro”. There are women’s and family sessions too, plus plenty of chances to show off your competitive streak under the polite excuse of exercise.

We mentioned this on Monday and yes, it’s worth another plug. Assemble brings together over 60 makers who’ll have you building robots, painting bubbles and pretending you knew how to use a glue gun all along. There’s even an Aardman workshop where you can make your own Feathers McGraw. It’s the perfect mix of creativity, mild glue fumes and that proud moment when you realise your kid’s model looks better than yours.
