Things to do this weekend including: Melbourne Festival and Beer Hall Chaos at Oktoberfest!

In partnership with

Morning! Melbourne Festival is back this weekend and the whole village turns into an art trail where you can nose around private gardens and homes stuffed with paintings, pottery and everything in between.

Add Oktoberfest at the Market Hall with bratwurst and steins, the UK’s first lowrider show bouncing into Great Northern Classics, and Croots serving afternoon teas big enough to cancel plans for.

If that’s not enough, Derby Concert Band are already selling tickets for their October concert, so maybe grab those before your mate does.

Once a year, Melbourne throws open its doors and lets you snoop inside gardens, halls and private homes that are normally off-limits. Only this time, they’re packed with some of the Midlands’ best artists showing off everything from paintings and pottery to jewellery, sculpture and photography.

Your £5 wristband gets you into every venue on the trail, and there’s a guide map so you don’t accidentally end up in someone’s kitchen asking about their WiFi. Alongside the art you’ll find live music, kids’ workshops, food stalls and pop-up cafés.

Tickets are available all over Melbourne - keep an eye out for their festival helpers who will have tickets to hand, or you can also purchase tickets at the Creative Melbourne Gallery.

🌟 FRESH EXPERIENCES

🍺🎶 - Osnabrück Oktoberfest - Lederhosen, Live Music and Lager
📍 - Derby Market Hall
📅 - Sat 20th September
⏰ - 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM
🎟️ - Free Entry
📷 - @derbymarkethall

Derby Market Hall is going full Bavarian for one day only. Long tables, bratwurst, currywurst, Apfelstrudel and a one-off lager brewed just for the occasion. The Ein Steins party band will be belting out tunes while everyone pretends they know the words, and yes, lederhosen are encouraged.

There’s a kids’ zone with games and crafts if you’ve got little ones in tow, but the real action is at the communal benches where strangers become drinking buddies in about 30 seconds. Free entry, first come first served, and a guaranteed shortcut to feeling like you’ve woken up in Munich without leaving Derby.
