Things To Do This Weekend: The 90s Day Party, Pottery at Artcore, Plus the Melbourne Makers Market!

Morning! Saturday has a 90s day party starting at 3pm, which is either very civilised or the clearest sign yet that everyone involved has a bedtime now. Tickets are nearly gone so it’s one to sort today.

Before that, Saturday also has the Antiques & Vintage Fair at the Conference Centre, the Derby Dog Show at the Market Hall, and pottery workshops at Artcore if you fancy actually making something this weekend. Sunday rounds things off with Man in the Mirror at the Arena and the Melbourne Makers Market if you fancy spending a Sunday morning in a room full of things you didn’t know you needed.

A full afternoon of 90s anthems and the quiet agreement that nobody mentions what year it is. Whitney, Oasis, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Tupac, and about twenty others. Starts at 3pm, which is either very civilised or the clearest possible sign that the target audience has a bedtime now.

Fourth release tickets are 85% gone, which tells you everything you need to know about how this one’s going. Fifth release is £20 plus fees. Groups of ten or more get in from £12.50 each. Get in before 5pm or don’t get in at all.

The Palfrey does contemporary British dining the way it should be done, seasonal, locally sourced, and with a menu that makes you resent every average meal you’ve had this year.

Duck pâté, panko brie, Derbyshire rump with bone marrow butter, lamb with nduja and wild garlic pesto. Plus a wild mushroom ramen sitting quietly at the end of the menu acting like it doesn’t know how good it is. It does.

Melbourne’s makers market returns with local produce, handmade gifts, and homewares from independent makers. Go in for a browse, come out with lemon curd, a copper garden ornament, and a bookmark with a cat on it. These things happen.

Three hours, free entry, and Melbourne is a decent Sunday morning drive.
