Morning! This weekend has the Derbyshire Food, Drink & Gift Fair at Elvaston Castle for two days of local producers, twelve live bands, and more gin than you planned to try. Saturday also has the Sadler Gate Spring Market from 10:30 AM with thirty-plus artisan stalls and The Drifters at Derby Cathedral in the evening if you want to finish the day on a high.

Local producers are taking over Elvaston Castle Showground for the weekend, with pies, cheese, chocolates, preserves, rustic bread, artisan gin, and plenty more things that will make “I’ll only get one thing” collapse almost immediately.

There’ll be street food if you’re staying for lunch, twelve live bands across the two days, and a bar placed dangerously close to the music tent, which feels like an operational decision worth applauding.

Kids’ rides are in the mix too, plus a free circus skills workshop that nobody plans to do, until suddenly someone’s uncle is attempting juggling with full confidence.

El Camino in Borrowash starts as a civilised coffee stop and somehow ends with cocktails, wine, a full Mediterranean dinner, and you pretending this was the plan all along.

The menu changes with the seasons, the drinks have clearly been chosen by someone with taste, and the white chocolate burnt basque cheesecake arrives like the final piece of evidence in a very delicious court case.

We mentioned this one in Monday’s newsletter, but it deserves another nudge. Thirty plus artisan stalls taking over Sadler Gate from top to bottom, with live entertainment and activities for the kids. The cafes, bars and restaurants are open throughout too, so the innocent little browse can very easily become lunch, drinks, and a conversation about whether you “need” another candle.

It’s free to wander around, which sounds harmless until you’re surrounded by handmade gifts, baked treats, and beautiful little things that suddenly feel essential.
