Things To Do This Weekend: The Farmers Market, America Day at GNC, Plus a Bank Holiday Painting and Prosecco Afternoon!
In partnership with

Morning! This bank holiday weekend has the Derby Farmers Market back on Sunday with seventy stalls, live music, and cocktails from Tiger Bar to mark a year since the Market Hall reopened. Get there early if bread is important to you, which it should be.
Saturday has America Day at GNC with American cars, bikes, and enough chrome to cause a mild incident in direct sunlight. Rum & Reggae at Elvaston Castle is also on Saturday and nearly sold out, so that one needs sorting today if it's on your radar.

Derby Farmers Market is back on Sunday with 70 stalls taking over the Market Hall selling local produce, artisan bakes, handmade goods, sweet treats, and the type of food that makes people suddenly start using words like “small batch”.
This one also marks a year since the Market Hall reopened, so there’ll be old photos on the balcony, live music around Lock-Up Yard and Osnabruck Square, plus cocktails and gin from Tiger Bar for anyone who believes shopping improves after one drink.
Get there early if you’re emotionally attached to getting the good bread.

SCRUMPTIOUS SCOOP
🍛 - Aalappeaz - The Menu That Makes You Google Half the Dishes then Order them Anyway!
📍 - 16 St Peter’s Churchyard
⏰ - Mon to Sun 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM (closed Tues)
📷 - @aalappeaz.uk
Aalappeaz near St Peter’s Churchyard serves Kerala cooking that doesn’t really resemble the standard curry house routine most people are used to.
This is dosa territory. Crispy rolled pancakes bigger than your forearm, flaky porotta built for scooping up rich curries, fish fry wrapped in banana leaf, and chicken 65 arriving at the table looking like trouble.
There’s coconut, curry leaves, mango, tamarind, spice, and enough things on the menu you’ve probably never tried before to make ordering feel slightly risky in the best possible way.
Also, somebody in your group is 100% ordering the chocolate dosa “just to try it” and instantly refusing to share it.
ACTIVITY ALLEY
🇺🇸 - America Day - Chrome, V8 Engines, And Conversations That Somehow Last 45 Minutes!
📍 - Great Northern Classics
📅 - Sat 24th May
⏰ - 10:00 AM start
🎟️ - Free entry, free parking
📷 - @greatnorthernclassics
America Day rolls back into Great Northern Classics on Saturday with American cars, bikes, music, and enough polished chrome to temporarily blind somebody in direct sunlight. The Tram Shed café will be running breakfast in the morning and lunch from noon, which is helpful because these events have a habit of turning a “quick look round” into half your day disappearing completely.
You’ll spend ten minutes admiring a Mustang, twenty minutes overhearing someone explain engine specs with terrifying confidence, and another half hour debating whether you’d actually suit a Cadillac.

HerSocial Club are taking over The Greyhound on Bank Holiday Sunday for an afternoon of fan painting, fizz, grazing boards, live music and the type of girls’ catch-up that accidentally turns into a full photo dump by Monday morning.
Tickets include a glass of fizz on arrival, cheese and olives boards, live DJ sets, all painting materials, giveaways, and a spritz table doing some very heavy lifting across the afternoon.
Ideal for catching up with friends, meeting new people, or discovering that after two drinks everybody suddenly becomes an art expert.
