Morning! This weekend has Uncovered at Elvaston Castle for two days of local makers and free entry, which is a very easy yes. Saturday also has the Derby Bike Festival at the Market Hall, a beer festival across two pubs on Railway Terrace, and a Salsa Extravaganza if the evening needs a second act.

Sunday has German Day at GNC with a breakfast buffet thrown in, Fun on the Farm at Bluebells for the family crowd, and the Bootleg Beatles at Vaillant Live to round things off.

Authentic Indian dining with a menu that earns a second look. Starters run from Nawabi lamb chops and dynamite king prawns to a mixed grill platter for two at £25. Mains cover desi karahi, slow cooked lamb shank, Kerala jumbo prawn curry, and a Namkeen Gosht that makes a very quiet case for itself and wins.

Brunch runs daily from 9:00 AM and goes full desi, Lahori halwa puri, Punjabi haleem with naans, spicy egg bhurji, and karak chai. The classic English breakfast is also there for anyone who needs convincing.

German Day is back at GNC with classics and moderns, indoor displays, and enough engineering to make you feel underdressed just standing next to them. The Tram Shed café is running a special menu for the day, breakfast buffet from the off and lunch from 12:00 PM. Free entry, free parking, and a Sunday morning that would be very hard to improve on.

Saturdays at Bluebells Farm run from lamb and calf bottle feeding first thing through to sheep racing, safari tractor rides, go-karts, a giant bouncy pillow, and a toboggan sledge track that will be the last thing anyone wants to stop doing. Milking demos and small animal petting in between.
