The East Midlands' favourite Doctor Who convention is back at QUAD for its seventeenth year, a full day of celebrity guest panels, autograph and photo sessions, displays, dealers and a room full of people who can name every Doctor in order without pausing for breath.

Confirmed guests include Anita Dobson, Janet Fielding, Sophie Aldred and David Banks, with more still to be added. Tickets are £60, £50 concession, and £20 for the under-12s if you're raising the next generation of fans.

Colliery Smokehouse sits by the water in Linton, cooking low and slow over British oak and finishing everything over flame. Oak-smoked brisket, 48-hour beef short rib, baby back ribs, and hand-cut steaks up to a 16oz Chateaubriand for two.

The burgers are where it gets silly in the best way. The Ultimate Smokehouse Smash stacks cornflake chicken, smashed beef, pulled pork, cajun mac and cheese, jalapeños and onion rings into one structure that should probably come with planning permission. There's a full Sunday carvery too, with slow-cooked meats finished over fire and Yorkshire puddings, plus 2-for-1 cocktails on Tuesdays and a free bottle of prosecco for tables of four-plus on Thursdays.

The Derby Jobs Fair lands at Pride Park on Friday, three hours of local employers all in one room and all there for the same reason: they want to hire. It's the shortcut past the online application void, the chance to skip the "we'll be in touch" email and actually talk to the person doing the hiring, face to face.

Loads of industries under one roof, a genuine shot at a job you didn't know existed that morning, and a few employers who fill roles on the spot. Turn up, have a chat, make an impression a CV never could. Free to attend, just grab your ticket on Eventbrite first.

A gong bath is an hour of lying warm and comfortable on the floor while the sound of gongs washes over you, slowing your heart rate, settling your breath, and quietly resetting a brain that's spent all week with 47 tabs open. No effort required beyond turning up and lying down, which is the sort of wellness most of us can actually commit to.

It's an immersion in sound built to melt off the stress and anxiety, and a rare bit of "you" time for once. Arrival from 5:30pm for a 6pm start at Darley Abbey Village Hall.
